She was born in Victoria, BC to Joe (Joseph Julian) Moon and Betty (Caroline Elizabeth Bursey) Moon on May 6, 1934. The family moved to Shawnigan Lake in 1950, and mom eventually moved to Duncan in 2006.
Sylvia was very proud to be survived by four daughters and their families: Cecile Paddle (Norman Yano): Susan Doskocil (Shawn Colford) Kristen, Jillian and Adam and their dad, Stephen Doskocil; Brenda Lloyd (Richard) Sam and Liam; Diane Burrows and Megan. Denise Mayea (Ralph): Darrin St.Amand (Lisa) Marissa, Kaliyah and Drevon; Brian Mayea (Farrah) Reese and Rory; Jason Mayea (Renzlee) Kayla, Lily and Keith. Laurelle St.Amand (Gary): Lianna Alcock, Jayden, Hayley and Emilee; Stephanie Ward-Moran (Harvey): Eesten and Connor. Jean St.Amand: Alex Babbage; Jordan Babbage (Kara) Brody and Lila.
Sylvia was predeceased by her parents in 1976 and 2003, her husband of 33 years, Johnny in 1987, her partner Buck in 2016, her sister Maurine Curran in 1991, as well as 3 beloved great-grandchildren: Cameron and Jeremy St.Amand in 2001 and Leah Patricia Doskocil in 2006.
Mom passed quickly and on her terms at Cerwydden Seniors Community in Duncan on March 26. Family surrounded her all day on March 25 and after we left, as we are sure she was thinking “we stopped yapping at her” she relaxed and passed peacefully.
We would like to thank the staff at Cerwydden, Cairnsmore Place and Sunridge for their kindness and caring for mom during her time with them.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 375 Brae Road, Duncan, BC on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
