It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Walter “Bruce” Marshall. Man of boundless love for his family and zest for life. Bruce was born on December 19th, 1939, in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife, Gayle Marshall, on June 22, 2026, at the age of 86 in Crofton British Columbia. He is also survived by his eldest son Gordon Marshall, daughter Patti Openshaw (Tim) and youngest son Everett Marshall (Lindsay) and his grandchildren: Adam Marshall (Grace), Nicholas Openshaw, Adriana Openshaw, Amaya Marshall, and Skylar Marshall and great grandchild: Mia Marshall. Bruce also held cherished relationships with his many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was raised in Saskatchewan by father Everett Marshall and mother Louva along with his three older sisters Betty Randolph, Elaine Markland, and Marylou Milliken. With his father’s job as the Director of Forestry for the province of Saskatchewan, Bruce spent some of his early years deep in the woods working in the wilderness. Later, Bruce spent some of his school years with his sisters in Squamish and Moose Jaw. He completed high school in Prince Albert and has maintained many lifelong friendships from that time. After graduation, Bruce attended university in Saskatchewan and shortly after, met his first wife Adrienne Lacroix. They had two children together, Gordon and Patti. Bruce held various senior positions including at the post office and several sales organizations. Later, after splitting with his first wife, Bruce met Gayle. They created their wonderful life together and had their son Everett. Bruce later moved into the mobile home industry where he went into a partnership as a co owner in a mobile home dealership.
He touched many lives with his charismatic positive outlook and quirky sense of humor. The spirit with which he lived his life translated into lessons for his family and friends on how we wanted to live our own lives.
The charisma which served him so well in his sales and marketing career carried over into the rest of his life. He took that same zest to his favorite hobby, golf. Bruce loved to travel with his wife Gayle. The two explored the world together hand in hand, with a particular love of Mexico where they spent many years escaping the Canadian winters and building lasting friendships.
Bruce leaves a legacy of love, wisdom, curiosity, strength, humour and positivity to the privileged few whom his life touched. His amazing life will forever be an inspiration.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on August 21st, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Crofton Community Center, 8104 Robert Street, Crofton on Vancouver Island.
