She is survived by her brother, Peter, her cousin Susan and her fiancé George plus her military gal pals, Legislature and Malahat Legion friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kazimierz and Julianna Jezierski; her sister, Anna Maria Jezierski; and her beloved husband, Glen Moffat.
We honour and remember Wanda Wetteland, a remarkable servicewoman whose life was defined by dedication, compassion, and service to others. Wanda Wetteland served Canada with distinction for 31 and half years in the Canadian Armed Forces retiring, giving her country her strength, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. She earned the respect of all who served alongside her and carried herself with quiet pride and integrity throughout her career.
Retirement did not end Wanda’s service. She continued to give back to her community with the same generosity, care, and sense of responsibility that guided her military life. She served on the Legion’s Executive as secretary for several years and did a stellar job. Wanda went back to her grass roots of her family and started pickling and baking for the Legion. Something no one from this valley had ever tasted before. She won a Cowichan Valley baking award for her baking. She was deeply loved by family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours, and her kindness and warmth left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
Wanda’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the example she set, and the love she shared so freely. She will be remembered with gratitude, respect, and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May you now sail on calm waters, with a fair wind and following seas. You are relieved of the watch. Rest easy shipmate.
The Malahat Legion will be hosting a celebration of Life for Wanda in the Spring time. More information will be available off their Malahat Legion Branch 134 website when we have further details
