With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Marie Hanrahan on July 31st, after a long battle with lung cancer and COPD. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on February 8th, 1962, to Joseph Hanrahan and Mary MacFarlane, but a long time resident of Hamilton, Ontario. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She is survived by her husband, Jack, and six children; John (Janet), Peter (Katie), Sean, Jolene, Nadia and Alicia. Sister to Delores (Kevin), Bobby (predeceased) and Janet. Grandmother to Brittany, Brandon, Jessica, Michael, Sara, Nevaeh, Kayden and Violet. Great-grandmother to Alexis and Noah. Aunt to Morgan (Sonya), Charlie (Tala) and Christopher (MacKenzie). Great aunt to Sebastian, William, Braxton, Everleigh, Jasper and Aurora-Grace. She will be missed by lots of family, as she has a very large one.
Donna was a generous soul, always seeing the good in as many people as she could. Even while sick, she managed to light up a room and keep a smile on everybody’s face. She loved her music, singing, painting her nails and making sure that she always looked her best when it came to fashion. While healthy, she loved to cook and bake to her heart's content. She loved being able to play her bingo every week. She always loved attending festivals, especially ones with music. Her legacy and memory will live on through many but she will never be forgotten.
Her service will be held on August 8th at 3pm; Marlatt Funeral Home - 615 Main St E, Hamilton, ON.
