On August 13, 2025, in Hamilton, and surrounded by the love of her family, our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch passed away peacefully. Evelina’s life was a remarkable story of courage, sacrifice, and boundless love.
Born on October 17, 1935 in Kybartai, Lithuania, Evelina experienced the challenges of a changing world at a young age. In pursuit of a brighter future, she later journeyed from Chicago to Canada with three young children, determined to create a loving and stable home. In Canada, she remarried her beloved husband, Balys Daugilis, and together they built a life of dedication, raising a beautiful family of five children with compassion, wisdom, and an unwavering heart.
She raised her family with the values she held most dear: faith, kindness, forgiveness, and the importance of supporting one another through both good times and hard times. Her example shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Balys Daugilis; her eldest son, Rimantas Paulauskas; her dear grandson, Brandon Paulauskas; her mother, Juze Cizauskiene; her sisters Irena, Steffa, Staci Kanopa (Paul) and Sophia Misauskiene (Raimondas) and her brother Vytautas.
Evelina is lovingly remembered by her children: Audrey Paulauskas (Julius), Edmundas Paulauskas (Kathy), Algirdas Daugilis (Patti), and Deanna Griffin. She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren: Amy Dee, Eryn (Peter), Amber (Brady), Victoria (Reece), Stefanie (Shawn), Racheal (Christian), Calvin (Erica), and Kayla Griffin; as well as her daughter-in-law, Judy Paulauskas (Peter). Her love also lives on in her great-grandchildren: Evva Golden, Wesley Kuehl, and Carter Kuehl.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Emmanuel House in Hamilton for their compassion and support during Evelina’s final days.
Visitation will be held at Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford Ave.,), Hamilton, on Sunday, August 17 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, August 18 at 1:00 PM, at Lithuanian Martyrs’ Catholic Church, 2185 Stavebank Road, Mississauga, with interment to follow at St. John’s Lithuanian Cemetery (next to the church).
Rest peacefully, dearest Mother. You will always be the heart of our family. ❤️
