Mr. Bobby Burnette of Blackman Road in Dunn, departed this life on Friday, July 20, 2018 being 73 years of age. Bobby was born to the union of the late J.R. Bob Burnette and Gracie Maynard Burnette in Harnett County on September, 04, 1945. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by the following members of his family: His loving wife: Linda Burnette; His Brothers: James Bud Burnette, Robert J. Burnette Jr., Andrew Burnette and John Earl Burnette; Sister: Joyce B. Hair; and In-Laws: Inez Reaves and Floyd Reaves; Brother-In-Law: Jerry Tart.
Bobby enjoyed the life that he was given and lived it to the fullest. His wife of nearly 50 years Mrs. Linda, was the force that made his world go round. He adored her and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage together, while taking on this life with a smile. To this union one child was born, a son, Bobby Bryan Burnette, who became his father's reason. Reason for what? His reason for everything. He loved his son beyond anything else that he had ever known, even himself. Although Bryan had grown up, his father still made sure to show his love and continued to be active in his son's life in all ways; even still spoiling him at Christmas the way you would a small child. There was no way to measure the love that Bobby had for his family and there was no limit to how far he would go, for not only his family, but for anyone who needed a helping hand. Bobby Burnette was an all around good person, always kind and always a friend to all. He enjoyed farming, watching westerns, and WWE wrestling; but nothing made him happier than the time he was given with those he loved. Bobby retired after 37 years with the City Of Dunn as Supervisor of Sanitation. He begin working at the sewage plant at the age of 18 under his father J.R. Bob Burnette, when he served as supervisor. His niece Shelby, who was more like the daughter that he never had, can recall Bobby's good hearted nature and awesome sense of humor from her childhood. She recalls the memories of when he used to take the children through the woods on his lawn mower while telling ghost stories. Bobby was the kind of man that you are thankful you met and the kind that is hard to let go, in is with certainty that he will be sorely missed.
Left behind to cherish his memory are the following members of his family: Son: Bobby Bryan Burnette and husband Joshua of Dunn; Special Niece: Shelby Tyndall and husband Mike; Brother-in-law: Jimmy Reaves and wife Carolyn; His beloved canine companion: Tooter; and many others nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
