James Blackman

James Blackman, age 94 of Erwin died Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Betsy Johnson Hospital surrounded by his family.

Mr. Blackman was born March 28, 1927 in Harnett County the son of the late John Oscar and Cora Massengill Blackmon and is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Spence Blackman. He is also preceded in death by a son, Shelton Spence, Sr.; a grandson Garrett Blackman, Brothers, John Bennett Blackmon, Edward Junior Blackmon and William Oscar Blackmon and Sisters, Betty Whaley, Mary Herring, Rena Parker, Esther Ammons and Catherine Ammons.

Mr. Blackman was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II, after pulling time in the service, he went to work at Erwin Mills where he stayed until 1985. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Devotional Gardens with Rev. Wom Namkoong officiating.

He is survived by: A Daughter: Barbara Spence Raynor of Linden, NC

A Son: Dallas Blackman of Erwin, NC

Grandchildren: Keith Raynor & (wife) Patty, Nicole Raynor Cain & (husband) Johnny and Shelton Spence, Jr. & (wife) Debbie.

Great Grandchildren: Cameron Raynor, Barrett Raynor, Patrick Raynor, Drew Eaker, Megan Eaker, Colton Eaker, Addison Cain, Shania Spence, Lara Spence, Shelton Spence, III (Trey).

10 Great Great Grandchildren.
