

Allan David Guilford, 88, husband of the late Gail Guilford passed away on January 4, 2026. "Gil" as he was known by almost everyone, was born December 3, 1937 in Middletown, CT a son of the late F. Morse and Ellen (Macomber) Guilford. Gil was a resident of Brooklyn, Connecticut. Gil graduated East Hartford High School in 1955 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1959 - 1963. Upon returning home he became a mechanic and owned Gils Garage in Bolton center. Gil was the automotive teacher at Windham Tech in Willimantic for 10 years until his retirement. He also loved music and played bass guitar and sang in a band throughout Connecticut and Western Mass in the 70's.
Gil loved to go out to breakfast at the Hole-In-One in Eastham where he was a favorite client of the staff there. He and Gail traveled to Florida in their RV for many years until they were well in their 70's. Gil was an attentive caretaker to his wife for many years after she suffered a stroke. He spoke very fondly of her often after her passing.
Gil is survived by a step-son James Peter Masterson of New Hampshire, brother-in-law Tony Galeota (Nancy), several nieces and nephews including Katie Lamprecht, as well as close friends; Paul Bengtson and Skip and Sue Koch all of Eastham, MA.
The family would like to thank the staff and fellow residents at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn, CT, where he spent his final months for the care and friendship that they showed him in the short time he was there. He was very happy there.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11am at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT.
