Beverly (Miley) Dillon, widow of Richard Dillon, of East Hartford CT, passed away at Hartford Hospital on January 30, 2015. Beverly was born on April 16, 1930 in Hartford, CT. of proud Italian heritage. She was predeceased by her husband, her beloved children, Brian and Maureen, her father, twin brothers and her grandmother who helped raise her and passed on her gift of wonderful Italian cooking to her. After marrying Dick they settled in East Hartford, CT where they were both active and loyal members of the East Hartford Democratic Party.
Beverly was employed by the East Hartford Board of Education as a paraprofessional for 42 years. She spent 41 of those years at Langford School where she was fondly called “Mrs. Dillon.” She had the deepest compassion for “her children” giving out lunches, discipline, hugs, advice and much love. She touched many lives, both young and old and will be fondly remembered by numerous East Hartford students, parents and staff.
She took much pride and enjoyment in decorating her home – both inside and out. Her green thumb was very evident in her deep green carpet that was her lawn and her beautiful blooming garden flowers. Many a passerby would stop to admire her flowers and whimsical ornaments arranged just so.
Bev was a dear friend in every sense of the word who was always there for family and friends. No matter the need you could always count on ‘Miss Beverly.” She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her many friends, especially Sally and Richard DuVall and family, Cheryl LaRochelle and family and her beloved poodle Bridgett.
Special thanks to the many wonderful caregivers at Hartford Hospital. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
Friends and family are welcome to gather on Thursday, January 5, from 4:30 to 6PM, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, with a Remembrance Service starting at 5:30PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private. To visit Beverly’s online tribute and leave a message of condolence, please visit www.newkirkandwhitney.com.
