Beverly June Gunter

Beverly June Gunter, 72, of East Hartford, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 26, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. Beverly is predeceased by her parents, O.D. Gunter and Doris J. Gunter, formerly of Westfield, MA. Beverly is survived by her husband, Larry M. Magoon of Romeo, MI, her son Justin and his wife Val, and two beloved granddaughters Brielle and Vivian, all of Romeo, MI. Also, her brother Craig and his wife Pam of Matawan, NJ, her brother Tod of Williston, VT and her brother Keith and his wife Amy of East Hartford, CT., and five adult nieces and a nephew.

Beverly’s greatest professional accomplishment was her 20+ years of military service to our country. She began her service with the US Navy in 1973 as an Aerographer’s Mate. She ended her military career as a Tech Sergeant (E-6) with the US Air Force Reserves in Chicopee, MA. Beverly had many interests in life. Her cats throughout her life were so special to her. She was an avid book collector and reader. She enjoyed all forms of visual arts, especially movies and television. She was a very talented portrait artist from a young age and also enjoyed many crafts such as knitting, crocheting and beading. Beverly was a very special person. She was loving, kind and thoughtful. She always remembered to mark special occasions for others with a greeting card, whether it was a birthday, anniversary or other special event. She very much enjoyed all holiday gatherings, especially the holiday meals! She was an excellent cook in her day and some of her favorite memories were special event dinners at the Historic Holly Hotel Restaurant in Holly, MI with her husband, Larry. Beverly’s lasting gift is a donation of her brain for genetic studies research at Indiana University in support of Alzheimer Disease research that began nearly thirty years ago with her father’s donation. Beverly has chosen to be interred at the Middletown Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT. Arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family.
