David Brzezinski, 54. of Manchester, CT, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 1, 2026, due to health complications. He was born January 4, 1972 a son of Joseph Brzezinski and the late Barbara Ann (Tichy) Brzezinski. David grew up in the Hartford, CT area and remained deeply connected to the community throughout his life. A graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, he built a respected career in broadcast television spanning nearly three decades. David dedicated 29 years to FOX61 News, beginning in 1997 as a graphics operator — a role that earned him the enduring nickname “Chyron Dave.” Over time, he expanded his technical expertise and in 2009 transitioned into directing newscasts after mastering the OverDrive automation system. He remained a steady and valued presence in the control room through 2026, known for his professionalism, reliability, and willingness to mentor new colleagues.
Known for his easygoing nature and generous spirit, David was especially supportive of new hires and young producers learning the craft. Though he often joked that he was “a font of useless information,” those who knew him appreciated his wide-ranging knowledge and thoughtful perspective.
Outside of work, David enjoyed movies, comics, and tabletop gaming. He regularly spent Sundays at The Portal playing games with friends, faithfully attended ConnectiCon, and even hosted a gaming panel — experiences he greatly enjoyed.
In addition to his father, Joseph, David leaves behind extended family, friends, and coworkers who will deeply miss his humor, kindness, and quiet but lasting influence
Calling Hours will be held on March 14, 2026 from 11AM to 1PM with a Prayer Service starting at 1PM at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford. Interment Services will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family.
