

Eunice Ann (Wood) Mason, 73 years, beloved wife of Albert Mason, of East Hartford passed away peacefully on September 23, 2015 at Harford Hospital after a short fight with cancer with family by her side.
Eunice was born on April 23, 1942 in New Haven to the late Stephen Wood and Beatrice Robinson and was one of four children. Eunice resided in Meriden and Hartford before settling in East Hartford. She attended Maloney High School in Meriden. Eunice was employed by Shop Rite/Motts, Merrill Lynch and The City of Hartford where she went on to work at Annie Fisher School for twenty five years. While at Annie Fisher School Mrs. Mason found her most rewarding time working with children with special needs whom she remained close with even after they moved on.
Eunice met the love of her life, Albert Mason and they went on to marry in 1967 making their home in Hartford then East Hartford. They were blessed to have two wonderful children. Eunice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cherished her time with her family.
She loved helping people and was always there if someone needed to talk, help with a problem or just someone to listen. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. Eunice cherished spending time with her six grandchildren which brought her great joy to be able to watch them grow up.
In addition to her husband, Eunice is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter Patricia Mason of Windsor; her son Alan Mason and his wife Lanie of Enfield; her sister Victoria Brown of Mt. Vernon New York; her grandchildren, Cassandra Lamarre, Addison and Landon Shaffer, Cameron, Mackenzie and Alaina Mason, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Carol Brennan and her brother Stephen Wood both of New York.
Mrs. Mason’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to all the friends and family for the support and many kind words during her illness.
Calling Hours will begin at 9AM, on Thursday, Oct 1st, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
