Helen E. Finan

Helen Esther (Holmberg) Finan, 83, a longtime resident of East Hartford, passed away with her loving family by her side on February 14, 2012. Helen was born to the late Esther (Anderson) and Henry Holmberg on January 15, 1929 in Queens, NY., along with her siblings Eleanor (Holmberg) Robichaud and Elinar Holmberg. She was married to John Robert Finan, settling down in in Windsor where they raised their family. She retired from Bradlees after 19+ years of service. She loved to cook and invite everyone into her home, being a “mother to all” sharing her love and hugs to family and friends. She was devoted to her family and cherished her time with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her four children; sons Robert Finan and his wife Betsy of Cape Cod, MA, Wayne Finan and his wife Karen, Mark Finan and his wife Mona, and her daughter Debbie Belliveau, all of East Hartford. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her 8 grandchildren: Robert Jr., Connie, John, Michelle, Michael, Mark, Abby and Matthew, her 13 great grandchildren: Ryan, Shanna, Taylor, Maximus, Cyrus, Nolan, Brooklyn, Angelina, Olivia, Renee, Kali, Benjamin and Anthony.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband John Robert Finan, Helen is predeceased by her son Christopher Finan, grandsons Christopher and Joshua Belliveau, and son-in-law Guy Belliveau.

Family and friends are invited at 10 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 17th) to the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed by her 11 a.m. Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours will be this evening, Thursday (Feb. 16th) from 4 to 8pm at the funeral home.
