

Irene M. Attardo, 100, longtime resident and loving wife and best friend of over 50 years to Louis Attardo, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2010, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation with her loving family by her side. Irene was born January 2, 1910, in Willimantic, daughter of the late Narcisse and Delia (Theroux) Chamberland. She worked for many years doing clerical work for the Hartford National Bank and was a longtime communicant of both St. Isaac Jogues & St. Rose Church in East Hartford. Both Irene and Louis loved spending the winters at their home in Floral City, FL. Along with her loving husband, Louis, Irene is survived by two step-sons, Louis Attardo and his wife, Pauline, of Ashford, Peter Attardo and his wife, Carol, of Willimantic; grandchildren, Michelle Rossetti of New Britain, Michael Attardo and his fiancé, Holly, of Willimantic, Nicole Marley and her husband, Len, of Willington, and Brian Attardo and his girlfriend, Dawn Benning, of Ashford; a special daughter-in-law, Joanne Gyure of Manchester, and Henry Rossetti of New Britain; her cherished great-grandchildren, Anthony, Onna, Enrico, Giovanna, Samantha and Jacob; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides both her parents, she was predeceased by all of her seven siblings, five brothers and two sisters. Irene's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 14, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford, followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
