Jeanette May Lavado

Jeanette May Hicks Lavado, 87, of Kissimmee, Florida and former of East Hartford, Ct peacefully passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024 in Florida. Born in Hartford, CT on June 17, 1937, a daughter of the late Erwin and Violet Hicks of East Hartford. Jeanette was married at a young age in 1956 to Edward Lavado, a marriage that continued for over 68 years until her death. She resided in East Hartford for many years prior to moving to Kissimmee, FL for over 20 years.

Jeannette is survived by a daughter Carol Huntington and her husband Mard of Augusta, Maine, son Edward Lavado Jr and his wife Kim of Rocky Mount, VA and a son John Lavado of Lafayette Place, VA, 2 sisters; Bonnie Kelly of CT and Helen Hicks of FL, 2 brothers; Erwin Hicks Jr of CT and Bernard Hicks of FL, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents Jeanette was predeceased by 2 sisters, Charlotte Ritchie and Ervine Dutrumble.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial will be at St Mary's Cemetery, 930 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108.
