

Kathleen K. Lester - 84, of Vernon formerly of South Windsor peacefully passed away on Sunday. Kathleen was born and raised in Hartford. She was the loving daughter of William and Kathleen Keegan. Kathleen graduated from St. Joseph's College and became a teacher for the Hartford Public School System, winning Teacher of the Year twice. She was the beloved wife of Philip J. Lester for 47 eventful years. Her family was her life and they always came first. She is survived by her son, Philip Lester and his wife Michele of Boca Raton, Fl., her daughter Jillaine Lester Young, of Coventry, and her son Daniel Lester, of Vernon, Ct. She was extremely proud of her six grandchildren Raistlin and Arianna Lester, Emily and Kevin Young, and Chloe and Lucas Lester. She leaves her sisters Mary Ann Carey and Ann Manikas, as well as brother Micheal and wife Louise Keegan. She also leaves her many nieces and nephews, who each held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by son Edward Lester and brother William Keegan. In her younger years, Kathleen loved camping and spending time around the campfire with her family and friends. In her later years, she really enjoyed watching the sunset on Anna Maria Island in Bradenton, Fl. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the American Diabetes Association. Calling hours will be held 4:30pm-7:30pm, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave,, East Hartford, Ct. Funeral services begin at 8:30am, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford, Ct. burial will conclude with services in Mt.
