

Louis E. "Red" Sava Jr., 91, formerly of East Hartford, died Friday April 9, 2010 in Tucson, AZ. He was born in Fairfield, a son of the late Louis E. Sr. and Priscilla (Toth) Sava. He moved to Tucson AZ in 2003. He was an operations manager for Republic Automotive before his retirement. Red was a World War II Navy veteran and faithfully served his country from 1943-1945. His beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia (Lewis) Sava predeceased him in 2001. He is survived by his sons Gary E. and his wife Leslie of Windsor and Bryan and his wife Joanne of Tucson, his sister Elsa Burns of Fairfield, three grandchildren Kristopher Sava and his wife Jamie of Houston, TX, Margaret Sava of Windsor and Emily Vazquez and her husband Andres of Windsor and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Samuel Louis Sava and his sister Florence Sava. Red's graveside funeral service will take place Thursday April 15, 2010 at 12:30PM at the Veterans Memorial Field of Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, will precede the service from 10:30AM-12:15PM.
