Luis Rafael Davila Senior, age 79 peacefully passed away May 19th 2019 in the city of East Hartford. He was born February 14th 1940, in Arroyo Puerto Rico to Jose Inez Davila and Gregoria De Jesus. He is survived by his wife Maria I. Davila and children Irma Z. Diaz, Wanda I. Santos Davila, Luis R. Davila Jr. He was gifted a plentitude of grandchildren Javier Diaz, Rafael Perez, Jose Davila, Karina Davila, Lorena Concepcion, Mikayla Santos, Luis Davila and seven great grandchildren; Jasiel, Adrian, Jasmine, Mason, Savannah, Felix, and Elliott. He was followed in death by his eight siblings.
Luis moved to Connecticut and fell in love Maria in 1970. He was heavily involved within the community. Many knew him as “Coach” or “El Mono” and some will fondly remember him asking “Cual sonastes”. He was employed with Fresh Point for 17 years and spent his off time coaching little league baseball and following his favorite team the New York Yankees. He began his coaching career 1986 with the Maria Sanchez little league and continued sharing his knowledge of baseball with the youth for over 10 years. He played for the several teams within the Charter Oak Adult softball league and loved spending time amongst family and good company.
Visitation will be May 22nd 2019 at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home located at 318 Burnside Ave East Hartford, CT 06108. The funeral service will be held the following morning at 10:00 am at St. Rose Church located at 33 Church St East Hartford, CT 06108. Followed by the burial service at Mt. St Benedict in Bloomfield, CT.
