

Margaret (Peg) Heneghan Keating passed away on April 19, 2026 supported by the love of family and friends. Peg was born on May 6, 1940 in Hartford, CT. She was a dedicated and talented teacher at Fox Elementary, St. Rose, and St. Brigid Schools, an avid reader, and loved talking while walking, especially by the shore. She was a tireless caregiver and devoted wife to Robert Keating, her sidekick and the love of her life. She nurtured relationships from her childhood on Sargeant Street while fostering new friendships, most recently at Anchor Bay where she moved to be near her daughter. As the inimitable matriarch of her family, Peg celebrated tradition and treasured every visit and phone call that kept her connected. Her resilience while living with Parkinson's exemplified the determination she brought to every challenge, inspiring all with her resolve to prevail while her focus remained on love.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Keating, and her loving parents, Thomas and Mary Rowan Heneghan. Peg is survived by her daughter, Maura Keating and her husband Jonathan Baumgartner, grandchildren Milo and Margaret who brought her so much joy, her sister Mary Brett, brother Thomas Heneghan, and many beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss her dearly. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday April 27, 2026 at Benjamin Callahan/Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT from 9:30-10:30am. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 with burial at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
