Richard Arnold Gallant of East Hartford passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on September 27, 1938 to the late Henry and Helen (Gautreau) Gallant. He attended school in South Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, graduated from Wilton High School in 1957, and attended Wentworth Institute.
He served in the US Army and reserves for 6 years and was a sergeant in the Ranger Corps for 2 of those years.
As a young man, he worked for his stepfather, Joseph Fay’s Construction Company where he operated heavy machinery. He subsequently was employed at Pratt & Whitney, Aetna, and Travelers as an Information Technician and retired from IBM as a Senior Database Administrator.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hiking, walking, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He and his wife, Nancy (Fraize), traveled extensively in the eastern part of the United States and Canada. He was a long time parishioner at the First Congregational Church in East Hartford where he and his wife were married in 1957.
Richard is survived by his son Richard Gallant and his wife Bethany of Hebron; Grandson Timothy, daughter Magdalena Vargas and Husband James Silver of Winsted and several close friends.
He is predeceased by his wife Nancy, his parents, stepfather, stepmother Rose Gallant, brother Gerald Gallant and stepbrothers and stepsisters.
