Ronald Kenneth Albert, affectionally known as “Ron”, of East Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in Hartford Hospital. Ron, 75, was born on May 30, 1945 to Clarence Raymond and Alice Rose (Michaud) Albert in Hartford, CT. He is survived by his wife, Diane Sedok Albert of East Hartford and two brothers and their wives: Robert C. and Sally F. Albert of Manchester and Richard R. and Ann C. Albert of Newington and several nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his first wife Virginia Albert in 1995.
After graduating from East Hartford High School in 1963, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. A proud Marine, he served his country in the Vietnam War. After his stint in the War, Ron joined Pratt and Whitney of United Technology Corporation, becoming a machinist. He retired from UTC.
Ron and Diane were wed in 2017. She was his best friend and traveling companion as they made many trips to areas in Connecticut and nearby states. A very gracious lady, she was the perfect match for Ron.
But, Ron also made time for his interest in sports. A loyal fan, he enjoyed the successes and suffered in the failures of the NFL New York Giants, the Boston Red Sox and UConn Women’s Basketball teams. His knowledge of sports and ability to remember events and dates made him a resource for family and friends. An avid golfer, he was proud, and rightly so, of his “hole in one” at Top Stone Golf Course in South Windsor on May 28, 2000. He achieved a goal that many golfers only dream about.
Calling Hours for Ron will be held at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108 on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 10am to 12pm followed by a Prayer Service at 12:00pm. Burial will follow immediately at Hillside Cemetery in East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Ron’s name to his favorite charity, the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
