

Mrs. Rose Cinderella Roppo, The Lord God has called you home. Rose C. Roppo, the daughter of the late Blanche Ramsey and Angelo Cassasanta died suddenly Saturday Aug. 4, 2012 at The University of Florida's Shand's Hospital at Gainesville. She was 89.
Born in Ambridge PA on December 27, 1922, she had made her home in Hawthorne FL with her beloved husband Nicholas James Roppo Sr. who passed on in June 1997.
Prior to that, the couple made their home in East Hartford, CT from 1964 to 1989. In the early years they both lived close to their place of birth in Ambridge and Aliquippa, PA.
Rose was always a very dedicated Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She also enjoyed and supported the UConn Husky men and woman's basketball program, as well as the University of Florida Gators football program. At home in Hawthorne she loved the quiet solitude of her home, she had a daily ritual of playing fetch with the family dog Buddy. She also enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles to pass the time during these golden years.
She was a retiree of The Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford where she enjoyed many years of loyal service.
Rose now also joins her son Nicholas James Roppo Jr. of East Hartford who passed on in 1998, as well as her husband of over Fifty years Nicholas James Roppo Sr. She was also predeceased by a sister Ruth Jankowski of Pittsburgh PA and, three brothers, James Jankowski of Manchester CT, Michael Jankowski of Erie PA, and Cary Cassasanta of South Florida.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Roppo of Hawthorne FL. and Anthony D. Roppo of East Hartford, daughter-In-Law; Shirley Roppo of East Hartford, four Grandchildren; Michelle Watson of Enfield, Nicky Roppo of Newington, Dennis Roppo of Hartford, and Tony Roppo of Enfield, three Great Grandchildren; Robbie, Tommy and Nicky Watson of Enfield, as well as many nieces and nephews along with close family and friends in CT, PA, CA and FL. Her Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren were the source of her greatest joy. Mom, you will be sadly missed.
Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, Aug. 10th from 4-7pm at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Aug. 11th at 9am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford, burial to follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, 1312 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
