Thomas M. Sullivan, 56, beloved son of Patricia S. Galvin and his stepfather Dr. J. Robert Galvin, passed unexpectedly on Oct. 5, 2014. He left this world in his favorite place, sitting on a chair on the rear deck of his boat. Captain Tom was a skilled pilot. He would slide his 34 foot Mainship yacht into a slip as though he was driving a compact car into a roomy parking space. He made it look so easy.
Tom was a combat veteran; he served six years in the US Navy. He was self-employed as a computer engineer and webmaster. He is survived by his sister Melissa Foss of Boynton Beach, FL., his brother Patrick F. Sullivan and his life-partner Victoria Flynn of Glastonbury, his niece Chelsea Love and nephews Brett and Garrett Sullivan. He is also survived by his aunt Bette Jones and cousins Megan (Todd) Kozak, Toby Sherman and Casey Jones. He was predeceased by his beloved boat cat Mac.
Dear Tom, “hark now hear the sailors cry, smell the sea, and feel the sky, let your soul and spirits fly, into the mystic…”-Van Morrison.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made in Tom’s memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3 Cross St. Essex CT 06426.
