Carole passed away May 24, 2014 at age 78 with her family by her side. Carole was born November 11, 1935 in Detroit, MI. the daughter of Pearl & Harry Alderton. Carole married Donald T Check in June 1966 and lived in Saginaw the majority of her life before moving to East Lansing in January 2013.

Carole is survived by her husband of 47 years Donald, children, Cindy Austin(Rick Coulter), Kimberly(Larry) Austin-Miller, Brandie (Peter) Bertsch, Donald J (Kristy) Check and Rod Austin, her sisters Gratia McMills and Pamela Taylor. She is preceded in death by her sister Janet Greehaw and Aunt Gratia Popple. Carole has nine loving grandchildren, Samantha, Aaron, Lauren, Tommy, Stevie, Bobby, Nathan, Molly and Brianna and many nieces and nephews plus one special angel of a niece, Tina Sparrard.

Carole was a Princess House Crystal District Manager of sales for 17 years. Her biggest joys that fulfilled her heart were the times spent with family no matter where they were. She traveled internationally with her sisters and enjoyed their summer home on Wixom Lake for 25 years. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not meant to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me”. A golden heart stopped beating. After a diagnosis of cancer God blessed her with nine additional months to spend with her children and grandchildren pain free. Thank you!

The celebration of Carole’s life will be held on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at l p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd. East Lansing, MI. Family will receive friends at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In memory of Carole, contributions can be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, P.O.
