We do not know each other but my daughter Brianna knew your son. My daughter left haslett in January and when I told her the morning after I heard of your sons passing she was in shock. She has told me about your son in classes they had together and how he helped her in the hallway when she had a mishap with her coffee. She still can't believe he is gone. As a mother I can not imagine the pain you are in right now and I just wanted to reach out and tell you and your family how truelly sorry I am for your loss.  You and your family will continue to be in our thoughts.

With a heavy heart I am writing this note to you.. We have never met but you have met my daughter Divira who was a close friend of David. 
I had never met David either formally but had seen him sometimes in the school and had heard so much about him from Divira that he was as close to us as well. 
That horrible night when we got the news about David, all night long , Divira and I hoped and prayed that this was some rumor and by the time sun will come up , all will be well and same again. 
But it was not to be .. we were all just shocked…. I feel your pain It has been hard for the entire community to accept and make sense of why we lost a precious boy. Just wanted to reach out and let you know that I and my family are here for you and your family.  That, David was an amazing soul.. so compassionate and kind , because he has such great parents. 

David and his smile will stay in our memories forever.

I am shocked and saddened to read that David
 has passed.   I worked as his “lunch lady” in his elementary years.  
David always wore a big smile on his face!  He was a very polite young man that said please and thank you automatically.   When I would see him at events outside of lunch he  would wave and say hello.   He truly was a joy to serve!
When you work with hundreds of children a day year after year, you don’t always remember all of their first and last names. (Which many times is a good thing)  With David, I remember his smiling face, his kind heart and his joy filled personality.   He stood out as one of  the really good ones!
I consider myself blessed to have worked with so many wonderful young people in my years at  Haslett.  I have no doubt that  losing David has left a big hole in the hearts of many.  My thoughts and my prayers are with David’s family and his many friends in Haslett.  Heaven gained someone very special!  Rest Peacefully David.  You left a big mark on earth  in the short time you were here!

May the sorrow you feel in your heart lighten by the love that surrounds you. Today and always,  loving memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength.  I’m missing David along with you ~ With heartfelt condolences.



I will never forget the 1st time I met David. He came to my house with my Grand-daughter Abbi, I learned just from the 1st meeting what a respectable and caring young man he was. There wasn't a time after that he had a smile on his face :) The last time I seen David was at my 1year old Grand-daughter Emma Jeans birthday party. He helped decorate, clean up and carry things out to the van. His Mom and Dad did such an "AMAZING" job raising him to be the Honest, caring and Loving young man that he was <3 David you will be Missed and Loved and will always have a special place in our Hearts <3

Dear Weston Family,
My interaction with David was brief and through his short time in our boy scout troop. He, Nick, and Ridge were at summer camp and I attended as a parent volunteer, which afforded me a chance to get to know some of the scouts much better. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I knew David as well as many of the other mourners, but I did get to see the Weston Boys as brothers make a positive impact on the troop and on me.  That summer, my son was obsessed with lacrosse and brought his sticks to summer camp and he and either Nick or David played catch between camp activities. Ridge brought his guitar and played and sang as well. Nick and David were open and helpful and engaging, sharing about their journey to this moment in time. They struck me as so honest and happy in a pure way, earnest and at ease. Their openness was well beyond what one would expect in children that age and admirable in someone much older. Although I am sad that I did not get a chance to know each Weston son better, I can see from the many  posts on various sites that others were gifted that connection and that is something to be happy for. It is my request to all that is that David's friends, family, neighbors, and community experience love and healing in spite of this hardship. May we all try to be kinder more often to each other. 

My heart breaks for your loss and there just aren’t any words but tears flow. I am thankful David has such a loving family and so many lives he has changed at such a young age. Praising God he gave his heart to Jesus and looking down from heaven now!

David Weston was a regular at our house for our fabulous pancake breakfasts that lasted somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes before the bus would come. He would have regular, yet unsuccessful, conversations with Amazon's Alexa while he ate. He was also a master marksman at the late night game of werewolf, which is some complex game involving broken Nerf guns and kids running furiously towards a dimly-lit open garage.  Gracie, the family dog, was especially well-mannered under David's  supervision and that's what sometimes allowed the rare privilege of sniffing around inside the house. 

We will miss David's easy laugh and warm smile. Our deepest condolences to the Weston family, all of David's friends, and of course Gracie, too.

Whenever Pam and/or I would be outside and see David walking by himself or with the dog down Reynolds Rd, he would always exchange a friendly smile and “hello”.  At the time, this simple exchange didn’t seem like much, but now that I reflect back, in today’s world, this speaks volumes because hardly any kid does this.  We are very sad and sorry for your loss.  😞

I'm so sorry for your loss.  My heart is breaking for you and your family.  Literally, every time, we saw David - he had a smile on his face (those dimples). He was always kind, courteous and respectful.  Ramiro was just talking about how much he enjoyed having David on the soccer team.  What a great kid! You, Ridge and Nick are in our thoughts.

I can’t help but think about David throughout my day. I remember the first time I met him. He walked my daughter Abbi home from school, I was just pulling in with a bunch of mulch and groceries and he insisted I go sit and let him carry everything in for me. I couldn’t believe what a gentleman this 8th grade boy was! I said “thank you, you’re parents definitely raised you right!” His reply “yea, they are great, thank you Mrs Abbis Mom” Three Years later he impressed me again when he came to my youngest daughters first birthday. I thought, wow what 17 year old boy chooses a 1 year olds birthday over hangin out with the guys? He said he was right where he wanted to be. Thank you David for being an inspiration to so many. You will live on in our hearts forever. 

David, you were one of my closest friends. I remember we met in 6th grade science class. We became friends immediately. You would call me “Cinnabon” and I would call you “cloudboy”. We used to stay after school and hang out or go out to eat, or go to movies. Everyday was special with you. You always made me feel special. You would make me laugh, even when I was down. My first boyfriend, my first kiss, you meant a lot to me and others as well. I will never forget all the memories you gave me and the laughs we shared. Everyday was a pleasure with you. Nothing will be same now without you. You will be deeply missed.

I miss you so much pal :( You we’re always the light at the end of the tunnel! You got me through so much! You have no idea how much you meant to me.  

David was an amazing person. I can’t even begin to say how thankful i am to have had him as such a good friend of mine. It was daily that David would reassure me that i looked beautiful of that i was smiling! David took care of everyone around him and i can’t even begin to describe how lost i am without him. I love you David. David you were a blessing to all of us, we all love you so much! See you again, David❤️ 

I wanted to share a memory of David. David played 7th grade youth football for the team that I coached.  It might have been the first time David played tackle football, at least in the Haslett school system, so initially he had some "catching up" to do as many of his teammates and opponents had been playing for 3+ years. What stood out to me was David's attitude and willingness to jump right in and work hard. He showed up for practice every day and gave his best,  which wasn't as easy as it sounds...5 days a week starting in early August (and it was hot and there was a lot of conditioning). It's funny how, looking back, you don't always remember the outcomes of games, but you remember the boys and the important stuff...the things that made you laugh and things that hopefully made a small difference in their lives.

The next time I had an occasion to see David, was 2-4 years later, in picking up a pizza for Friday night dinner. This tall, well spoken, bright young man courteously handed me my pizza and added "here you go Mr. Donovan." That might not seem like much...but to me...that made all the difference in the world. Here was someone probably making minimum wage, 15 or 16 years old, and he wasn't just providing satisfactory service; he was providing exceptional service by remembering who I was, and saying my name as we made the exchange. To be honest, I recognized him but could not place how I knew him. So I sat in my car and just kept going over and over in my head how I might know him. Finally, it clicked! I coached him for a few weeks, a few years ago...and I was stunned that he remembered me, remembered my name, and cared enough to use my name in that brief exchange.

I feel for David, his family, his classmates and his friends. Way too early.....and from my perspective he was a young man that was finding his way in the world and was going to figure it out and make his mark some day! 

David loved everyone and everyone loved him, I was talking to him a few days before this happened and he was cheering me up because I had a rough week so he was making jokes, he always knew how to make me laugh. I'm going to miss David but he's with god now and he'll always be looking down on us with a smile.

I saw your boy just last week. I picked up a pizza. I asked if he remembered me or my son Dylan. He replied, “ Of course!”, with the most breathtaking smile. He was so sweet. He told me he missed having Dylan at Haslett high and he remembered me chaperoning field trips to Nature Centers. I brought the pizza home and over dinner I told my family about my encounter with David. It was a great pizza night. Your family is on my mind. You picked a good one.

David.. was truly an blessing to everyone’s life. I knew David through my cousin, Me and David have been friends for a couple years. He definitely impacted my life a lot. When I was upset he knew how to make me happy and he always had a funny joke to tell me. I remember he always had a love for pineapples. Whenever he messaged me I always had a smile on my face. David will truly be missed.. my condolences with his friends and family

David....you always brightened everyone's day!  You made this world a better place.  We are so thankful for the time we had with you.  You will be missed beyond measure.  Our hearts are broken.  We love you David.     

I only met David one time many years ago. All 3 boys were so great. They live on a lake and it was raining and they wanted to go swimming so I volunteer to go with them. Get wet, right?
They were so fun and friendly and I know David will be missed.

David was my best friend, first love, and happiness. He always made sure everyone around him had a smile on their face. He was always there for his friends and always made sure everyone was happy. He was the most selfless person I knew. Every day I would get a good morning text and a good night text and he would always send me puppy videos and it always made my day. I’ve never met someone as caring, funny, outgoing, crazy, smart, courageous, kind, and amazing as he was. 
To Mr. and Mrs. Weston: I wanted to say that you did a wonderful job raising David, he turned out to be an amazing kid. Thank you so much for taking me into your lives. You guys are my second home, thank you for being there. I want you to know that if you ever need anyone to just come over or to talk to or anything at all, just let me know, I’d be more than happy to be there for you guys. Thank you for being so wonderful.

David has always been there for me always there for me no matter what even on my worse days. I remember this was my favorite memory of David we were in world history class and he looked at me and he said I just spelled Like wrong and we laughed and I said How’d you spell it and he said L I K E and we laughed really hard for like two minutes till I said that’s how it’s spelled and we laughed the loudest we ever have 

Although I didn’t personally know David, we shared classes together. He would always come in to class with a smile on his face, and a new joke to tell. Just by seeing how him and his friends would interact showed just how radiant and positive David was. He will be missed dearly. 

What a great kid and what a devastating loss. I am so, so sorry. We have wonderful memories from years ago when we’d visit Ita. Isaac and Ezra would play with the boys. Thinking of your entire family, and especially those brothers. Hoping you all are surrounded by and filled with love during this difficult time.

David would attend youth group often and was a good friend. He was always smiling and having fun! He was  pretty great! 

I knew David from working at BIGGBY, he was a wonderful kid. I could always count on him to brighten everyone’s day. He had such a big heart, and will be dearly missed.

She met him through one of her best friends.   G has many great memories of David,  and was very sad to hear of his passing.
