

Gary Paul Mayhew, age 81, of Okemos, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. He was born February 28, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas. Gary received an Associate of Arts degree from Palomar College, Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University, and Masters of Business Administration from Michigan State University. He had a distinguished 55 year sales career in the computer industry, retiring from Honeywell Bull as a District Sales Manager. Throughout five decades in technology sales he established himself as a respected leader.
At age 62, Gary embraced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Exchanging his briefcase for his bible, he rededicated himself to spreading the Hope of salvation to all by distributing "Salvation Poem" cards. For eleven years he served as the Michigan Coordinator of "One Day with God" Camps, enabling children to visit their incarcerated parent in Michigan corrections facilities that focused on bringing families together for forgiveness and reconciliation.
He proudly served three years in the U.S. Air Force, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Stationed in Korea and California, he received an honorable discharge. His deep love for America and unwavering patriotism were foundational values that guided his life of service to both God and Country.
Surviving are his wife, Jan Williams-Mayhew of Okemos; children, Catharine Mayhew of Williamston, Sean (Phyllis) Mayhew of Salt Lake City, UT, Amber Mayhew of Holt, and Benjamin (Fritzie) Mayhew of Okemos; grandchildren, Shelby (Corban) Spaulding, of Bath, Sydney Mayhew of Salt Lake City, UT, and Brandon Mayhew of Salt Lake City, UT; brothers, Daniel (Jennifer) Mayhew of Sonoma, CA and Jeffrey (Yolanda) Mayhew of Seattle, WA; very special "Auntie", Margaret Gowan, of Topeka, KS; nephews, Chris Mayhew and Corey Mayhew; great-grandchildren, Asher Spaulding and Noah Spaulding.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, with visitation from 10:30 am until the time of service.
