Jane Elizabeth Payne, of East Lansing, Michigan died on September 19, 2015. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenyon T. Payne. She is survived by her daughter Martha J. Payne of Muncie Indiana, her sons William S. Payne (Jacqueline) of Lansing, Michigan and Christopher T. Payne (Virginia) of Evergreen, Colorado; four grandchildren, Kathryn Oltmans (James) of Parker, Colorado, Kristen Matteson (Ronald) of Arvada, Colorado, Megan McMillan (Robert) of Scone, Scotland, and Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Payne of Richmond, Virginia, and five great-grandchildren.
Born August 22, 1916 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Ida D’Ooge Boucher and Chauncey Samuel Boucher, Jane graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts with a degree in art history and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She and Ken raised their three children in East Lansing.
In summers, Jane and her family vacationed at the family cottage at the Belvedere Club in Charlevoix, where she had spent summers from the time she was born. Jane loved tennis, golf, picnics on the beach, sailing, and above all enjoying the view of Lake Charlevoix from the cottage porch.
Jane was a talented artist, specializing in water color and particularly painting scenes from northern Michigan. She served as a docent at the Kresge Art Gallery at Michigan State University, and later served as president of the Friends of Kresge. She was a long time member of The Peoples’ Church.

A funeral service will be held at The Peoples’ Church, East Lansing, Michigan on Thursday September 24, 2015 at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
