Green Valley, AZ
Formerly of East Lansing
Jean MacGregor Lacey was born to eternal life to live in the house
of the Lord on March 6, 2011. Her five-year ordeal with
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) has ended and she is now at
peace. Jean was born March 15, 1937, the daughter of Donald and
Ruth MacGregor. She was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan
where she attended Marywood Academy and graduated from
Mercy Central School of Nursing in 1957. Along with her nursing
classmates she worked at hospitals in Grand Rapids, Milwaukee,
San Francisco and Chicago.
She met her husband, Gerald Lacey (Jerry) in 1965 and they
married in 1967. Living in East Lansing, MI. they raised two
sons, Michael and Mark. She was very active as a mother,
homemaker, and role model throughout their lives and enjoyed
watching them grow into adults. Never content with the status quo
she went back to school, received an accounting degree from
Aquinas College, and became controller of Dale Computer until
retirement beckoned.
In 1996, she and Jerry moved to the Isle of Palms, SC. where they
enjoyed southern hospitality and walking on the beach. Having
been active in PEO in Lansing, Michigan Jean helped establish a
PEO chapter in Mt. Pleasant, SC. In 2005, they traded the beach
for the desert and moved to Green Valley, AZ. where Jean was
active in swimming and other social activities. Throughout her
retirement years, she enjoyed frequent visits and phone calls from
her children Michael and Mark, their spouses Mary and Holly, and
her grandchildren Morgan and Miles. In addition to them, she is
survived by her sister Laura Lee Hoffman of Hudsonville, MI,
husband Roger and two nieces, Melissa and Jamie.
