

Died Monday, March 14, 2016 at the age of 85. Wes was born May 11, 1930 to Hubert and Cleo Beadling in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Wyandotte, Michigan when he was nine and he attended St. Patrick’s Elementary and High School, where he met his future wife, Joanne Faulder, who survives him after 63 years of marriage.
He attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio before entering the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in San Diego, California after serving 18 months on the island of Guam. Upon completing his military service, he worked in the accounting department of the Chrysler Engine Division in Trenton, Michigan while attending the University of Detroit to complete a degree in Business Administration. After also receiving a Teaching Certificate, he taught middle school at St. Pius School in Southgate, Michigan for a year and then enrolled in Wayne State University in Detroit to work toward a degree in Public Administration. He served as a City Administrator in two Michigan cities, Wyandotte and Trenton. During his years in Wyandotte, he was involved in athletics, as a participant and a coach at both the middle and high school levels and was honored by an induction into the Wyandotte Sports Hall of Fame.
In 1969, he moved his family to the Lansing area and served as the first Director of the House of Representatives Fiscal Agency for the State of Michigan. Eventually, he completed his state service with the Department of Social Services, both in the Detroit and Lansing areas. Upon his retirement, he worked part-time for Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes in Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law John and Magdalene Faulder, son-in-law Blair Dean, sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Jo and Raymond LaBeau and Patricia and Edward Cooney.
Surviving to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are sons John (Nancy) and Thomas Beadling and daughter Mary Anne Beadling Dean; grandchildren Patrick (Carissa), Andrew, Jennifer, Drew and Shaye Beadling and Margaret Dean Konwinski (Kevin) and Joseph Dean; great-grandchildren Bryce and Madelyn Beadling and several nieces and nephews.
An immediate private interment was held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on April 2, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI with Rev. Mark Inglot officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813 whose staff, along with Heartland Hospice, provided comfort and care for Wes in his final days.
His family also makes a special request to celebrate a life well lived by a humble man by “doing something for someone they love or someone that nobody loves.”
