Joyce E. Zook

Joyce Elizabeth Zook passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 79 in Okemos, Michigan. Joyce was born on April 28, 1945, in Jersey City, New Jersey to loving parents John Zook and Mary Drost.

Joyce graduated in 1964 from North Arlington High School in New Jersey. After high school, she worked at S. Klines Department Store in New York City. In 1975, while in New York City, Joyce met the love of her life, James Felton Jr. In 1976, they moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where James worked at Kellogg’s and Joyce was a stay-at-home mom raising their four sons James, Kevin, Shaun, and Duane.

Joyce was known for taking care of her boys, never missing an opportunity to tell people how proud she was of them. Joyce enjoyed cooking, shopping, watching her favorite television shows, staying up on current events and occasional trips to Lake Michigan. She will be remembered for her colorful style, her fun yet quirky demeanor, and her love for her family.

In addition to her sons, Joyce is survived by her two daughters-in-law: Melissa (James) and Jamie (Shaun); her sister Mary Helen (Mebane, North Carolina); and her grandchildren: Jaylon, James “Aiden”, MaKenna, Juliana, and Keigan. Joyce was predeceased by James Felton Jr.; her brother Johnny; and sisters: Gloria and Barbara.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, Michigan 48823, from 2 – 3 p.m. followed immediately by the funeral service.
