Dr. Kamal Sharma

Born August 2, 1929, in Agra, India to Vidya Sagar Sharma and Ganga Devi Sharma, passed away November 14, 2012 at the age of 83. Dr. Sharma was a 1953 graduate of GR Medical College, Gwalior MP, India. She earned her MD as the only female student in her class. She completed her OBGYN fellowship in the United Kingdom and practiced as a physician in India. An amazing mother, wife, grandmother, friend, and role model, she accomplished anything she set her mind to, in youth and in old age. Dr. Sharma was committed to women’s health and public health education.

Dr. Sharma is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. J. P. Sharma; daughters, Priti (Ajay) Pathak, Niti (Ranjan) Thakur, Shaili (Sanjeev) Deveshwar and Ritu (Dhiresh) Joshi; 6 grandchildren, Priyanka and Saumya Pathak, Jay Thaker, Shaun Deveshwar, and Neil and Ria Joshi. Her family, friends, and especially her husband will deeply miss her love, hugs, laughter, and her insurmountable courage.
