Okemos, Michigan
Kelli Lynn Jones Hughes joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on March 23, 2013 at age 49. Kelli was born in Denver, Colorado on September 2, 1963, the daughter of Robert Eugene Jones and Lillian Jane Waterman. She spent the first thirty years of her life in the Denver area, graduating from Hinckley High School in Aurora in 1981. Developing a keen interest in business as a young person, Kelli became an entrepreneur, building three successful businesses -- as a real estate agent in Denver, a fitness franchise owner in Michigan, and as an independent Executive Regional Vice President with Arbonne International with clients across the United States and abroad. Kelli was passionate about health and wellness and about helping other people dream big, grow personally and professionally, and reach their goals in life.
Kelli was a woman of strong Christian faith and was very active in church, charitable, and community endeavors. In addition to Colorado, she lived in Brighton (MI), Mequon (WI), The Woodlands (TX), and Okemos (MI), raising three children along the way with her husband Doug. She was a great wife and mother and was deeply loved. She enjoyed cooking, preferring plant-based options, and was very engaged in her children’s many activities, including recent service as president of the Okemos Athletic Boosters. Physical fitness was important to her and she participated frequently in cardio tennis, Pilates, and similar pursuits. She also loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She took great joy in traveling with her family, enjoying vacations that covered 45 of our 50 states including Hawaii, as well as Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Kelli lived fully and with tremendous spirit, integrity, and determination. She developed deep friendships, had a ready smile and great sense of humor, and was a leader and inspiration to many. She will be greatly missed by both friends and family. She leaves behind husband Doug, children Kymberli (Nyberg), Scott, and Ashley, brother Dean Newton of Colorado, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd, Lansing on Friday, April 12, at 11:00 with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
