Lucie was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in East Lansing for over 28 years and a founding member of St. Martha Catholic Church in Okemos. She was active in numerous ministries throughout.
Lucie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Service to family and friends was her fulltime, embraced vocation. As a woman of deep faith she was truly blessed by her faith communities and prayer groups, ministering by her words and witness. Her children are eternally grateful for their parents’ deposit of their Catholic faith.
Proud of her farm girl and thumb of Michigan heritage, Lucie cherished the outdoors. In retirement, she and John built up an oasis known as the “Acres,” reveling in open skies, countless gardens and sunsets.
Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John (2008); son, Paul (2004); brothers, Eugene Weingartz, Bernard Weingartz, Joseph Weingartz and George Weingartz and sisters, Evangeline Doneth, Doris Nellenbach and Ruth Ann Nellenbach, Lucie is survived by her sons, Rev. David J. Speicher and Kevin J. (Mary) Speicher; daughters, Mary C. Speicher, Ann L. (William) Stamp and Jeanne M.
