

Marilyn (Schaberg) Cornelius, 89, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away on February 18, 2016. She was born in Lansing, MI on November 9, 1926 to Kathryne and Arthur Schaberg. Survived by her beloved husband Gene of 65 years, and daughters Julie, Anne (Tom) Schrock, Kate (Scott) Rasmussen, Marilyn (Brett) Larive; and grandchildren Elizabeth, Benjamin, David, Jonathan, Samuel, Emma, Zoe, Georgia; great grandchildren Elijah, Lincoln, Micah, Addison. Also survived by sister-in-law Barbara Schaberg, brother-in-law Bruce (Mary Alice) Cornelius, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her parents, and brothers, Donald (Mary Lou) Schaberg, and Gerald Schaberg.
More than anything, Marilyn was devoted to her family every day of her life. Her greatest joy was raising her daughters, celebrating & supporting their life journeys, and lovingly welcoming her grandchildren and great grandchildren into her heart. Inside and out, her beauty and kindness were effortless and left an indelible imprint on all who knew her. Marilyn was a lifelong member of Sparrow Hospital Guild and the Junior League of Lansing. The family will receive visitors from 4-6 pm on Saturday, February 20th at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 21st at The Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marilyn’s memory to The Peoples Church or Sparrow Foundation, 1322 East Michigan Ave., Suite 204, Lansing, MI 48912.
