Marilyn Lyn Putnam

Born July 1, 1929 in Long Island, NY to Eugene and Dorothy Barfoot. Passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 in East Lansing, MI at the age 82.

Marilyn graduated from Garden City High School in New York. She held a Bachelors of Science from St. Lawrence University and a Masters in Education from SUNY-Oswego. Marilyn retired in 1982 from Camden Central School in Camden, NY where she taught for many years. She was active in the AFS Exchange Programs. Marilyn was a long time member of McConnellsville Community Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, NC. She moved to East Lansing in 2009 and was a resident of Independence Village of East Lansing. Marilyn loved camping, golfing and traveling.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Henry John “Hank” Putnam after 53 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Douglas) Dean, Rachel (Tommy) Hoke and Craig (Debbie) Putnam; 6 grandchildren, Brian and Christopher Putnam, Adam and Laura Dean and Drew and Jennifer Barnett and her brother, Eugene Barfoot.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, July 21, at 2:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906 in Marilyn’s memory.
