

Marjorie Schroer DeSimone, born on January 27, 1932, in Dayton, Kentucky, passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 93. Marjorie moved from Kentucky to Washington, DC when she was six years old. After graduating from Calvin Coolidge High School she worked at the Pentagon for the Department of the Navy. She then attended her beloved University of Michigan where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
Marjorie moved to Chicago, taking a job with IBM. While in Chicago she met a young West Point graduate, Thomas E. DeSimone, whom she married on August 25, 1956. Together they raised four wonderful children, after which she returned to school. Marjorie received her Master's Degree in African History from SUNY Brockport. She went on to hold administrative positions with Temple University and retired as Dean of Admissions from Gwynedd Mercy College in the mid 1990s.
Throughout her life Marjorie was a devout Catholic, actively serving the communities in which she lived. Surviving are her children, Elizabeth Reed of East Lansing, Catherine (Michael) Piciulo of Buffalo, NY, Thomas (Karen) DeSimone, Jr of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and David (Karen) DeSimone of Asheville, NC; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Milton and Evelyn Schroer; brothers, James and David Schroer.
Marjorie will be interred with her husband at Virginia Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
