Robert J. Cornwell, age 90, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away September 9, 2014. Born in Watertown, Michigan to the late Charles and Mabel (Wegner) Cornwell, he served in the US Navy in the WWII Pacific Theater on the USS Corregidor from 1943-1946.
A talented barber, Robert worked for many years as the owner of Bob’s Barber Shop on Olds Avenue in Lansing, and lent his expertise to various barber shops in the Lansing area, as well as in Holt, before his retirement.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Barroso Cornwell.
Surviving to honor his memory are daughter, Carol Lynn (Michael) Galsterer and sons, Robert C. (Diane Alvary) Cornwell and Charles Cornwell; grandchildren Victoria (Barry) Simon, Alexandra Cornwell, and Jordan (Cassie) Cornwell; and great-grandchild Benjamin Simon.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caring staff of Ingham County Medical Care Facility for the many kindnesses and dedicated care over the past seven years.
A Private Memorial Service for Robert’s friends and family will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 4:00PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823, with a visitation one hour prior.
