Sandra Marie Thompson

Sandra “Sandy” Marie Thompson transitioned peacefully to heaven on June 12, 2018 from McLaren Medical Center ICU. She was born to Eugene and Martha Thompson in Muskegon, Michigan. Graduation was first from Muskegon High School and then from Michigan State University, receiving a BA and MA in Elementary Education.

Sharing her love for Jesus and children and teaching, she taught for 30 years at Bath Middle School. She also spent her summers and free time in evangelistic ministries, Family Life crusades, daily vacation bible schools, Galilean Bible Camp (Blind River, Ontario) and other Canadian Sunday School mission camps and camps across the U.S. For many years she traveled as a “cousin” with Uncle Charley and Aunt Pearl. Okoboji Lakes Bible and Missionary Conference in Arnolds Park, Iowa was a favorite part of her summer schedule.

Sandy has been a prayer warrior/supporter across the years and across the world. Her prayer ministry focused on individuals, families, churches and mission organizations. She was a kind and thoughtful giver of her love, her life and her livelihood. Her last moments were spent accompanied by loving friends reading scriptures, singing hymns and praying together.

Some of her special friends include the Earl Nelson Singers with Verna Holly, Melvin Holly, Millie Holly and Grace Carter; Verna Holly Piano Studio students; Okoboji Lakes Bible and Missionary Conference; Grace Bible Baptist Fellowship; United Conference for Women; Bath School Colleagues; Carolyn Hall and her family; Tom and Mary VanDyke and family; Lisa Gass and her mother, Laurie; Debi Robinson, Maxine Hewett and her, brother Robert Hewett.

Funeral service at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River, East Lansing, Friday at 1 p.m. Visitation before service at 12 noon.

Burial will follow at Rose Cemetery in Bath.
