Age 62, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at her home in Northport surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born November 28, 1948 in Fort Riley, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Louise (Chory) Powers. On December 23, 1977 in Lansing, she married Jeffrey A. Gibson, who survives.
Sharon lived her dream of having a home on Lake Michigan in Leelanau County. She had a lifelong affair with gardening and loved her children, grandchildren and planning events around them. She truly loved her granddaughter, Ava Sunshine, and adored spending as much time with her as possible.
In addition to her husband, Jeffrey, Sharon is survived by her sons, Jeffrey S. (Crystal) Gibson, Matthew P. Gibson, Jeremy J. Olmstead; granddaughter, Ava Sunshine; grandson, Amos; sister, Linda Hitch and Debbie Bell.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Leelanau Conservancy, P.O. Box 1007, Leland, MI 49654.
