Susan Marie Dupay, 69, passed away on January 16, 2026, with her family at her side. She was born on August 19, 1956, in Owosso, Michigan to Jack and Charlotte (Rigling) Bignall. She married Steve Dupay on May 6, 1978. Together, they raised three boys and they spent 38 years together; until his passing in November of 2016. In that time Susan earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and worked for Head Start for over 25 years, where she modeled her belief that all people deserve love and kindness.
Susan is survived by her three sons, Brad (Abbie), Jon (Samantha), and Alex (Cori); grandchildren, Jack, Ava, Kaylee, and Liam; sisters, Kate and Chris; and brother, Jim. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Steve.
Susan enjoyed traveling, reading, and coffee. She liked to be skiing in the winter and on the beach in the summer. She took several international trips after her retirement and made sure to spend time in northern Michigan as much as she could. She also took as much time for reading as she could; usually reading over 100 books a year. Above all else she loved her family, and was always present for her children and grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
