

Virginia received a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry from Michigan State University, and then joined the Michigan Dept. of Agriculture in 1948, retiring in 1988 working in the Feeds and Fertilizers Laboratory as a chemist before assuming the supervision of that section, training and supervising many chemists and technicians while aiming for excellence in the analytical process.
Virginia was actively involved in the scientific work of several major professional organizations. In 1978 the Associations of Official Analytical Chemists honored Virginia by electing her a Fellow of the Association for her many contributions.
Outside her career, Virginia’s life was filled with many friends, hobbies and activities. She pursued her love of duplicate bridge, her photography which took her throughout the world visiting over 35 countries affording her many experiences.
Virginia was a long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Her Funeral Mass will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing with Fr. Tucker Cordani, presiding. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Traverse City at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Virginia to St. Thomas Aquinas School Scholarship Fund, 905 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI 48823, St. Vincent DePaul Society, in care of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, or to the charity of your choice.
