

Basil Braman, 81, of East Peoria, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on January 10, 1944 in Pollard, Arkansas, a son of Floyd Braman, Sr. and Audie Mae (Jivers) Braman. Basil married Elyner Kay Summers on February 1, 1964 in East Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his four children, Kevin (Chelly) Braman of Delavan, Brian Braman of Celina, Tennessee, Alisa (Cameron) Sweatt of East Peoria, and Erika (Jeremiah) Urban of East Peoria; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Francis Maxcine Marshall of East Peoria; Christine Braman of Morton, Lucille Marshall of Metamora; numerous nieces and nephews.
Basil was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and six brothers.
He attended East Peoria Community High School.
Basil worked as a machinist for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Pentecostals of Peoria and Pekin. Basil volunteered at Heartland Dog Training Center in Peoria for over 25 years. He loved working on cars, restoring antique furniture, and riding his lawnmower.
Basil's funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. His visitation will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 also at the funeral home. An additional visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria.
