Mrs. Betty Pauline Owen

Betty was born in Peoria on June 7, 1934 the daughter of Elmer & Ester Gerard. She married Clarence Owen in Missouri on July 29, 1972.

She is survived by her husband of forty-one years; five sons, Anthony Hardin of Washington, Tom (Susan) Hardin of Madison, WI, Tim (Donna) Hardin of Peoria, Jerry Kinman of East Peoria, Mike Owen of Peoria; two daughters, Tammy (Emmerson) Durst of Bay View Gardens, and Brenda (Ron) Craig of Washington; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Florence Gerard; two sisters, and one brother; and two great-grandchildren.

She loved being married to her best friend. She had a strong passion for home cooking for the family. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed being with her extended bingo family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 4, 2013 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Pastor Tom Myers will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday evening December 3, 2013 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be in Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria.

Memorials may be made to Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church in East Peoria or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
