Dale J. Gibbons

He was born August 24, 1931 in Jacksonville, Illinois, a son of Elmer and Alma Gladys Johnson Gibbons. He married Patricia Fisher on December 18, 1953 in East Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara (Arnold) Benson of Mapleton; four grandchildren, Dale (Cindy) Orr of East Peoria, Brian (Shanna) Orr of Creve Coeur, Eric (Joey) Benson of Pekin, and Caroline Benson of Mapleton; six great grandchildren, Joshua Orr, Taylor Benson, Trinati Benson, Sarah Orr, Daniel Orr, and Chase Benson; and one sister, Betty Bechtold of East Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.

He was employed by Peoria Brick and Tile for 35 years, and last worked at Autobon’s Black Toping in Morton. He worked for over ten years as a volunteer at the Creve Coeur Food Pantry.

Dale was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church in Creve Coeur.

He loved fishing, wrestling, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Creve Coeur Christian Church. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria and one half hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
