Delmar J Schoen

He was born January 13, 1921 in Mt. Olive, IL to John H. and Christine (Olthoff) Schoen. He married Verla Schmidt June 8, 1952 in Peoria. She preceded him in death in 1981. He then married Lorine Henry in 1986. She preceded him in death in 2009.

He was also preceded in death by a brother.

Surviving are his sons, Ron Schoen and Kevin (Stephanie) Schoen, both of East Peoria and Garry(Karen) Schoen of Florida; five grandchildren and his brother, Donald (Fay) Schoen of Arizona.

Delmar worked at Caterpillar for forty years retiring as a precision machinist in 1986.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.

Singing was a major part of his life as he sang with the Caterpillar Mixed Chorus, First Methodist Church Choir and the Snyder Village Gospel Chorus.

His funeral will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Burial will follow at Groveland Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery in Groveland. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
