She was born September 7, 1924 in Seattle, WA to Leo and Josephine (Kurtenbach) Sneyd. She married Junior Totten October 2, 1947 in Chatsworth, IL. He preceded her in death June 7, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Jeffrey Totten and one brother, Leo Sneyd.
Surviving are her three children, Gregory Totten of Pekin, Sue (Scott) Willis of Washington, and Theresa Cieszinski of East Peoria; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a Registered Nurse and started her career in nursing with St. Francis Hospital. She later worked as a nurse at Caterpillar Inc. for 14 years before retiring in 1985. Dorothy was a past member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a Alzheimer's support group leader and volunteered at Sophia's Kitchen until she was 89. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf. She will be remembered for her willingness to help anyone who needed it.
A visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 5 to 7 pm at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. A funeral service will be Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. A private family committal will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
