

Esther was born to Paul Schafer and Ruby Lou (Sturgeon) Schenk, the third of four children, on September 7, 1940 in rural Scotland County Missouri near the County Seat of Memphis. She attended a one room, rural school through the 8th grade and then attended Memphis High School where she graduated with honors in 1958. In her early years she was a member of 4H, took flying lessons, and was Baptized in the Presbyterian Church of Memphis. After High School, Esther attended the Kirksville, MO State Teachers College before taking a brake to marry Calvin J. Webber. The couple immediately left for Peoria Illinois, where they were employed. Esther worked at the Commercial Bank for several years until Curtis was born. After a stint as a stay-at-home Mom, she went back to school to earn her Real Estate Agent’s license. Esther was a devoted and highly respected Real Estate professional whose career spanned nearly six decades in the Peoria and East Peoria communities. Since 1967, she dedicated her entire professional career to Century 21 Lincoln National Realty. Over the years, her excellence was recognized through every major Century 21 production and service award, including the Lifetime Centurion Award. She developed many friends and acquaintances through real estate, many becoming lifelong customers, as well as their children and grandchildren, that she would sell multiple homes to over the 58 years. Outside of real estate, she was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Peoria and the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) as well as supporting numerous charities.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joanna Swope (Schenk) Russell, and her brother John Richard Schenk. Surviving, her son Curtis (Laurie) Webber, sister Mary Jean Schenk, two Grand children, Brianna (Sam) Jones and Megan (Shayne) Oldmixon, two Great Grand Children (and one on the way), two nieces and two nephews.
Visitation for Esther will take place at First Baptist Church of Peoria on 13 March 2026 at 4pm with Service to follow at 5pm. Interment will take place at Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, MO on 15 March 2026 at 1pm.
