East Peoria – Helen A. Mottler, 97, of Peoria, formerly of East Peoria and Creve Coeur, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Aperion Care Morton Villa in Morton. She was born on June 11, 1923 in Lilly, IL to Albert LeRoy and Ethel Grace (Hogan) Bradley. She married Richard P. Mitchell on June 29, 1940 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1942 in Peoria. She then married Harry Mottler on July 18, 1978 in California. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1986 in East Peoria.
Helen also was preceded in death by her parents; step-daughter, Joanne Mottler; daughter-in-law, Pegi Mitchell; and three brothers. Surviving are one son, Richard H. (Nancy) Mitchell of Peoria; step-son, Michael H. (Carol) Mottler of Conway, AR; step-daughter, Lonna “Sue” Millard of Mt. Zion; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Helen worked in medical benefits for Caterpillar, Inc. for 26 years, retiring in 1982.
She loved her pet dogs, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Cat Retirees Club.
Helen’s funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Her visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
