

He was born June 2, 1953 in Pekin, Illinois to Carl and Doris (Pierce) Cody. He married Janice Belcher on November 8, 1974 in Peoria. She passed away October 4, 1999 in Junction City, KS. He is also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, three sisters: Glenda Jean, Linda Kay, Brenda Sue, and one granddaughter, Mariah Lowe.
Survivors include four children: Jenny (Tim) Clark of Enterprise, Kansas, Jerry (Amanda) Cody of Enterprise, Kansas, Jody (Jeremy) Duck of Surgoinsville, Tennessee, Jamie (Michael) Lowe of Abilene, Kansas, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, Jerry’s girlfriend, Judith Smith, one brother, Carles Cody, one sister, Rhonda Cody, 7 sisters-in-law, and 6 brothers-in-law.
Jerry was a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of the USS Hermitage LSD 34 Association. Following his time in the military, Jerry was a Firefighter until he retired from the Ft. Riley Fire Department in 2007. He also was an EMT and an Underwater rescue and Recovery Diver. He received numerous awards for firefighting. Following his retirement, he was a Correctional Officer from 2008 to 2012.
He enjoyed woodworking, going on cruises, collecting firefighter patches and memorabilia, and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens following the services.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be donated to a fire department.
