

He was born August 4, 1945 in Peoria to William and Arla (Fries) Caruso. He married Linda Larson January 22, 1966 in East Peoria. She survives along with three sons: Jason Caruso of Iowa, Justin Caruso of Peoria, Joshua (Sara) Caruso of Peoria; two grandsons: Roman and Cyrus Caruso of Peoria; one sister, Evelyn Caruso of Manito; and one brother, Ronald Caruso of Low Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
He was the Superintendent of equipment for the City of Peoria, retiring in 2007. He also worked for River Oaks Dodge, Parkway Chrysler, and Ray Dennison in Pekin.
He attended the Pekin First Nazarene Church.
Mike traveled the country playing the highest level of softball for 25 years. He coached Little League, refereed basketball, and played many sports while serving in the U.S. Army in Germany. Mike was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. Most of all, he loved his two grandkids, Roman and Cyrus Caruso, whom he called, “his angels”.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be Tuesday September 2, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pekin First Nazarene Church. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Foundation, primarily the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
